Simapalooza – Riders, Sliders & Gliders Welcome!
April 12, 2014 - April 13, 2014

Mount Sima is inviting all paraliding pilots to come out for some flying to end the skii season. Get a full-day lift-pass for the cost of a half-day one. They want as many pilots out to launch at 5pm on Saturday and Sunday. There will be no cost for pilots who want to have a single flight for the 5 O’Clock Flight. Be great if some of the Skagay pilots could some up too. You can get a visiting HPAC Pass or an annual HPAC Membership (needed for insurance).
Photo and Video:
If any pilots are willing to take photos or videos for the 5pm flight, Bring your Go-Pro’s and cameras.
On Friday, it’s only $10 for a lift pass after 4pm. They are open until 6pm!

Wind permitting, come fly during at the season finale for the ski season. There will be Music , Rail Jam, Raffle, Snow Bar, and more. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=At5uTpMUTDM
Reminder: Sima is an ADVANCED flying site due mostly to the Landing Zone.
The LZ is a 6:1 Glide Ratio which is a long way from the South Launch and the LZ is not directly visible.
Since this is likely to be a busy event, I will point out that the parking lot may be full and the Copper Road has two safer landing zones on either side of the parking lot.
One is at the Trans Canada Trail exit. I tested this LZ two weeks ago and while it is further, it is much safer.
If the grant for Sima is approved, then the next goal is to create a new, closer LZ and improve the existing ones.
SAFETY REMINDER:
I know many of you have already flown there and will use your judgement. If conditions are not ideal, be prepared to deal with them or take the lift back down and enjoy the celebrations.
Older wings or inexperienced pilots should not launch from the South Launch.
